October Chef of the Month
Born and raised in Queens, Chef David Copper is a culinary prodigy with a passion for food that ignited at a young age. Starting his culinary journey at 4 years old, David's love for cooking was cultivated as he watched his mother and grandmother work their magic in the kitchen. His mother gave him a children's cookbook and further sparked his interest in whipping up meals for his family.
After high school, David's dedication to the culinary arts led him to the Art Institute of New York. There, he majored in culinary arts and minored in restaurant management.
This experience equipped him with the skills to flourish in the culinary world. He went on to hone his skills in French culinary techniques and accumulated an array of experiences working in restaurants, hotels, and farms.
David has been an indispensable part of the DIG fa(r)m for two years, joining the team in the spring of 2021. He embodies the DIG value of "it's bigger than you and me" with his love for cooking and dedication to his craft.
David is not just a talented chef but also an inspiring leader. He believes in leading by example and building his team around a strong work ethic.
His favorite dishes to prep outside of the DIG kitchen are smoked meats and Asian cuisine, particularly hibachi parties and sushi. And when he's at his restaurant, you'll likely find him noshing on the Kale Caesar with Marinated Beans and Golden Brussels.
In David's own words, "Teamwork makes the dream work.”
